The updated motor has a slight adjustment to it's size and kv in order to optimize performance for light crafts. It also now comes in 2S kv. This updated motor size is considerably larger but weighs just ~0.2g more. The overall performance increase comes in the way of throttle feel. The motor feels significantly more punchy on 1s and mimics a 5" more than before.
Big fat note: These motors come with 3mm mounting screws. If you are mounting to 2mm frame, you will need 4-5mm long screws. The manufacturer messed this up. Apologies

This is the allure of small light weight crafts. We've worked extremely hard to optimize and refine the performance from the light 3" 1S and 2S platforms however these motors can be used for any multitude of small low weight crafts.
One thing to note is that this motor has a 2mm prop shaft. We highly recommend the Gemfan 3018 for this motor which also has the 2mm press fit prop shaft. While the motor still has T-mount screw holes, only using the 2mm press fit has been shown to actually increase thrust and improve prop response. If you'd like to use props that are 1.5mm press fit, use a prop hole drill kit to drill a straight hole and avoid a wobbly prop that will cause vibrations.

The rationale behind the 2mm prop shaft:
Previously, prop shafts meant for press fit props existed in just about every denomination from .8mm through 1.7mm. When we started flying Toothpick class quads that had lots more power/speed than typical micros, we started sheering prop shafts when using press fit props. We absolutely hate the annoyance and weight of the T mount screw mechanism so we just upped the shaft diameter to 2mm and made our new prop fit that. This 2mm shaft is not only stronger, but it also provides more gripping surface area for the prop so it’s more secure as well. Props with the 2mm center press fit hole are backwards compatible on 1.5mm and smaller shafts with the T mount screws.
Fantastic little motors, great build quality, I just wish that cables are not longer a bit.
Life is what it is, and therefore things will go sideways at one point or another.
Those of us using FPVCycle motors, Frames and products have no need to stand on the highest mountain screaming our heads off on how good these products are.
We use them, and we Know... and we buy more.
I'm in my 60's, and buying as much high tech crap as I have over the last 35 years... FPVCycle has proven to be the friendliest and has the most reliable customer service I have witness... and I don't believe it gets any better than this.
This is not about lip-service, but about finding a company I can trust blindly, who is seriously evolving it's own quality to take itself and their hobbyist forward.

I just finished using these motors on my new build- gnarlyfpv primo 3 frame with a betafpv f4 1s fc and I’m loving them so far. I’ve only had to opportunity to fly them in doors bad weather in the northeast. I can’t wait to get them outside in a field to really let them rip. Also, they look nice too. 👍🏼👍🏼
This is my 3rd set of these awesome 1s motors, one of my favorite motors to build with.
After running through a bunch of flight controllers due to user error I've finally ran more than 3 packs thru these motors and after about 30 packs between today and yesterday I've gotta say the hype is there. These are some of the most amazing 1s motors I've ever seen. Amazing throttle control with a nice oh so nice punch out ability they are dope
